First post from my phone

August 19th, 2009 by bradshawSo last weekend I traded in me windows mobile device for a new iphone. I have to admit I was really apprehensive about buying into the cult that is mac users but I have to say that I am now one of the converted. PArt of that proof is that this post was done from my iPhone. I have been on vacation now for 2 days and I have been relying completely on my phone for entertainment, camera, email, and web browsing. Right now I only have 2 complaints about the phone and both are actually application issues or possible I am not familiar enough with the phone to do things the right way.
1. Why can I not make a new photo album on facebook? I have tried the facebook app, the facebook mobile website, and finally the real website and none of them work. The real website was the closest but their seems to be a safari bug that won’t let me actually click the buttons to add photos to the album
2. Imdb is really crappy on the iphone a d their isn’t an app to cover that functionality (or atleast one I have found )
overall the battery life is awesome the performance and usability is awesome and I can still use the web even with 1 bar on crappy edge service. I give the iPhone 2 thumbs up and would certainly encourage everyone I know to switch
just got started using an auto poster
June 1st, 2009 by bradshawhere is something pretty slick. I just started using “Blog Entry Poster” which is just a Gnome applet. It seems pretty simple and hopefully this will allow me to keep things up to date and posting at a regular interval. We will see as time continues.
My new flooring
April 19th, 2007 by bradshawMy first comment.
March 8th, 2007 by bradshawI know this will sound pretty stupid to most but my blog got its first comment. TIME TO CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!
I have converted
March 8th, 2007 by bradshawSo for as long as I can remember I have been using some console based mail program. Things like mail, pine. I then took the jump to emacs about 6 years ago and started using mh/gnus. So recently I have been suffering with my mail due to all this great new age of security. I need to have ssl and tls and all these other great buzzwords just to read some plain text messages. Well I am proud to say that after many attempts to update myself into the modern age of email I have finally succeeded. I am now using Mozilla Thunderbird somewhat happily.
I generally fear change especially when it comes to something as important as email. I am pretty much useless without email, so this is no small task. I made the break and now I am working on importing about 3GB of local mail into Thunderbird. So far so good.
Theme Change
February 26th, 2007 by bradshawThe last theme just wasn’t cutting it. It was cool and fancy, but a ton of functionality was missing. I am now in search of a new theme. If you have suggestions let me know.
OSS – Windows only software?
February 22nd, 2007 by bradshawSo recently I have run into a company that is using all open source tools, but they only support the software on Windows. I thought this a little silly at first, but figured that it is just what they are used to. So I being a Linux junky started down the road of installing their software on a Linux machine. Now here is where it gets scary. The software didn’t work, so after fighting with the company a little back and forth, guess what. They admitted to using OSS tools to develop software that will truely only run on Windows. I feel so dirty
New Homepage
February 16th, 2007 by bradshawSo I just went through the gambit to make this my new default homepage. Welcome to the site and I will just mention that most of the data sits somewhere around here.
SNOW DAY!!!!!!!
February 13th, 2007 by bradshawIt seems that this is the first time that I have ever seen the whole lab shutdown for a snow day. Yes I stayed home, but still ended up working
There was a time in my life that days like today would give me just the time I needed to pack up the board and head to the local ski resort. Today I just decided to make some tea and pound away on the keyboard.
Well it didn’t change much for me but happy snow day to the rest.
